Well, I'm totally addicted to this album. I've listened to it several times a day for the last couple of weeks at least! It's dancey but still pop and all around a good time.
Favorite track: Strictly Comma Dance.
London-based songwriting duo Dan Henchman and Thomas Theodore inaugurate new label DISLO with a debut 7-track summer mixtape Get To Work.
Conceived over many years of friendship, Get To Work triangulates the worlds of guitar music, soulful hip-hop and club culture.
The mixtape is a diary of city life. Delivered with intimate attention to detail, it gathers shrapnel of burned out scenes that have bloomed and faded during the making of the record. It interweaves the spirit of Joni Mitchell, The Internet’s Syd and Theo Parrish in its storytelling, vocal flow and dancefloor bump.
From a series of humble, homespun experiments emerges a record with its own unique sound. Get To Work has been realised with the help and guidance of producer Tony Nwachukwu (CDR / Attica Blues) who has lent a weight to a record otherwise crafted using borrowed equipment, rudimentary software and a dangerously wired Juno 106.
Throwing shapes in the heat haze, Get To Work captures a sense of rootless cultural drift, and bears witness to the changing sounds, spaces and experiences of living in the city.
Boee this is another [cosmo]blast from Ursula's Cartridges!. Not my favourite though, but certainly this one has been the most chill and mesmerizing trip to the cosmos I had so far, and for sure nasa astronauts play this album while going to space.
Don't miss it. For your health.
It is absolutely my ＦＲＯＳＴｅａｔｏ
VHSailing Rally has that nostalgic feeling without leaving you yearning for the past, but rather, fondly looking back. Love the 2pac sample (it ain't nothing like the old school). Superb track. happycatstatue
